After the success of the聽Festival of Culture and聽the Arts 2018: Kat(hawan:聽Bodies, Society, Culture, UP聽DIliman (UPD) continues聽the identification of聽the Philippine body as聽an important device in聽knowledge production聽with Bodies, Science, and聽Philippine Society or the聽celebration of the first UPD聽Science, Technology, and聽Society (STS) Month.
This time, the Philippine body聽is explored as a scientific聽concept grounded in a socio-historical milieu. The series聽of activities comprising聽the UPD STS Month 2018聽explore how both the natural聽and social sciences link,聽problematize and interrogate聽the Philippine body as an聽important apparatus for the聽understanding of inventions聽and innovations, biological聽determinism, historical and聽social memory studies,聽genetics, nutrition and health.
